High School Sailing is one of the fastest growing areas of youth yacht racing in both popularity and competition. 90 schools in California and Hawaii are currently registered in the Pacific Coast Interscholastic Sailing Association (PCISA). Eligibility is open to boys and girls in ninth through twelfth grades. The PCISA holds five regattas spread throughout the state, while the Southern California (SoCal) region hosts an additional five regattas for kids who are newer to racing. With practices and regattas tailored to all experience levels, this popular after-school activity is a perfect way to continue sailing beyond the summer. During each semester, a solid calendar of local and traveling regattas allows sailors interested in competing the opportunity to do so. For local (So Cal) regattas, teams may be comprised of sailors from several different schools and grade levels, while traveling PCISA regattas often require teams to be comprised of four sailors from the same high school. DRYC will always assist in the development of a sailing team at any school, even if there is not one currently in place. Fees for middle and high school sailing include coaching, use of DRYC boats and sails.DRYC fees do not include regatta or travel costs, or additional school athletic fees. Regatta Coaching Fee per sailor: $50.00 / day |
