The DRYC FJ / 420 / Laser Race Teams travel year round to regattas throughout the Southern California region and beyond. Practice for these groups can be combined with Weekend Teen Sailing classes, and can also be coordinated outside of regular class hours on an individual basis. Sailors are expected to travel to all SCYYRA events, including the Shadden, Perry, and Ullman/Frost series. To be on the DRYC Junior Racing team takes years of commitment and continual regatta participation.
The Following events and organizations are an integral part of the annual schedule for the Del Rey yacht Club Junior Sailing Program:

  • US Sailing Junior Olympic Youth Championships
  • US Sailing Sears / Bemis / Smythe series
  • US Sailing Regional Junior Olympic Festivals – all fleets
  • Pacific Coast Championships – Optimist, Laser and Laser Radial
  • Olympic Classes Regattas
  • US Laser Nationals, Laser Worlds
  • Orange Bowl Regatta - all fleets
  • 420 Nationals, 420 North Americans
  • US Sailing Junior Women’s Single Handed Championships, Nancy Letier Cup
  • US Sailing Junior Women’s Double Handed Championships, Ida Lewis Trophy
